  • Joyce CHEUNG | Project Lead & Keyboard

    Joyce is a jazz pianist, arranger and composer based in Hong Kong. She is a co-artistic director at Music Lab, an emerging festival organiser for different genres in Hong Kong.

    Her album “Jazzical Collection” was launched in Feb 2022 and it was a live recording of the headline show at Freespace in Oct 2021.

    Joyce spent her formative years at the Berklee College of Music, having graduated with first honors in Film Scoring as well as Contemporary Writing and Production in 2014 and obtained her Master’s degree in Contemporary Performance in 2017.

  • Jackiz TSANG | Bass

    Jackiz Tsang works as a bass guitar instructor for years and has been performing in various venue like Asia Expo, Queen Elizabeth Stadium, TVB as well as hotels and lounges. He performed with singers and artists included Albert Au, Ruth Chen, Frances Yip, Dominic Chow, Jayesslee, Joey Tang@Tai Chi Band, Wong Yik, CY Leo, Cheung Chun Ching and many more. He also achieved 1st Runner-up of LiveTube 2015 with his band Ocean Boulevard.

  • Dean Li | Drums

    A rather late start for a musician, Dean Li learnt his first drum groove at the age of 15. Starting his drumming journey from playing Cantopop, Dean was exposed to the vast music world after his friend brought him to his first band show when he was a Year One student in the university. After years of exploration in different music genres, Dean is unsatisfied to focus on playing one kind of music and keep trying to extend his playing to different genres. That is why you will see him playing in the urban folk band Stranded Whale, improvising in a cozy jazz bar, or sometimes backing up a pop singer behind the dazzling stage lighting.

  • Samuel AU | Violin

    Samuel AU was born and educated in Hong Kong. Fascinated by the sound of violin, he developed it as his major interest with tuition under Li Wing Shun and famous violinist Yao Jue respectively. Samuel succeeded in many competitions including the Concerto Prize and the SeaSound String Competition and also gained Fellowship in Violin Performance from Trinity College London and the Licentiate (Violin Music Performance) from Royal Schools of Music.

    In Europe, he acquired first class honors in Bachelor Degree with Nathaniel Vallois and further studied at Royal Academy of Music, London, under renowned violinist Maurice Hasson. In Vienna, he achieved a post-graduate diploma in Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien with Anton Sorokow, Concertmaster of Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

  • Tiffany CHENG | Viola

    Tiffany has started learning viola at the age of 8. She has received professional training in the String division of Hong Kong Academy ofPerforming Arts (HKAPA), majoring viola, under the guidance of Mr. Ray Tsoi. She later pursued her bachelor of music in viola performance at the Royal College of Music, London, with Nathan Braude and Yuri Zhislin.

  • Bernard CHAN | Cello

    Born and raised in Hong Kong, cellist Bernard Chan received his Bachelor of Music from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) under the tutelage of Letty Poon, and had recently completed a Master of Arts degree with distinction at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied with the former head of strings Professor David Strange MBE.

    Bernard is active in both the classical and pop scene. To name a few, he has been invited by the Hong Kong Arts Festival, More Than Musical, and the Hong Kong Cello Association, etc. He is also one of the members of the local professional a cappella group - V Sing. Since 2020, he has been doing both cello and vocal harmony for pop singers and groups in Hong Kong, like Jason Chan, Per se, iii Iris Liu, etc.

  • SIU Hin-chuen | Saxophone

    Chuen is one of the active jazz musicians in Hong Kong. Having received some recognition and awards from the local music scene, he decided to study jazz in Capital University, where he studied with Robert Breithaupt, Stan Smith and Lou Fisher, among others. Chuen has joined several jazz groups. One of the earliest jazz bands he joined was Spektraz around 2007, a jazz trio formed by Justin Siu and Vic Tsui. In 2012, Chuen, Lui, Mike, Vic and Paul formed an experimental quintet Mo-Men-T. The band has been invited to perform on the main stage of Taichung Jazz Festival, Taipei Fringe Festival, Hong Kong People's Fringe Festival, Hong Kong Green Jazz Festival and Freespace Fest. The band released an EP in 2012, Compositions and Improvisation, and an album in 2013, Infinite Lines.

  • Floro Sernande Jr. | Flute

    Floro Sernade, Jr. is an experienced multi-instrumentalist and bandleader. He began studying music at the age of 6. As a graduate of the Philippine High School for the Arts and the University of the Philippines College of Music, Floro is one of the most talented flautist in Hong Kong, in addition to being a highly trained percussionist. He is a virtuoso classical player and a ground-breaking Jazz and Latin Flautist. He had been member of the Manila Symphony Orchestra and played with the pHilippine Philharmonic Orchestra, whilst also performing at the Clockenflap Music Festivals, Various Jazz Festivals in Asia.

    He currently leads two groups in Hong Kong: Banda Orbita, an Afro-Cuban Jazz Ensemble as well as Salvage, a Brazilian Batucada group. Floro is also regularly invited to perform in Hong Kong and overseas with many Canto-pop stars.

  • Oscar LAM | Trumpet

    Oscar Lam, Hong Kong based full time trumpet performer who is a degree holder of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Mr. Fung Kai Man is Lam mentor in his youth age. During his studies by Fung, Lam received the champion awards of the solo trumpet in the 64th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival’s senior group.

    The Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra invited Lam to be the principal trumpet performer to play in 17th anniversary concert in 2014. Apart from that, The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra invited Lam to become a part time performer in 2014. In addition, Lam was part of the trumpet session to do the world tour in the Asian Youth Orchestra in 2016.

  • Anna FAN | Percussion

    Drummer born and raised in Hong Kong, Anna graduated from the Berklee College of Music.  She was twice awarded the Berklee Achievements-Based Scholarship in 2008 and was touring and featured in the Focus Day Concert in PASIC with the Berklee West African Drums and Dance Ensemble in Austin Texas.  It is one of the more renowned events in the drumming industry.  After returning to Hong Kong, Anna led her jazz group Renfrew Group touring in South Asia, including Hong Kong Arts Festival 2012, Hong Kong International Jazz Festival, Beishan International Jazz Festival (Zhuhai, China) and Tai Chung International Jazz Festival.  Besides performing, Anna also arranged and composed percussion music for various scale percussion ensembles.

  • Sam PO | Guitar

    Mr. Sam Po is a local professional Guitarist. He has more than 10 years’ experience in guitar teaching and stage performance. Since 2000, he has worked together with famous Singers from Hong Kong and Taiwan. Starting from 2011, Mr. Sam Po performs in TVB for their music programme. TVB is one of the largest commercial Chinese programme producers in the world. At the same time, he is the Guitarist for local Concerts performing in Hong Kong Coliseum, Queen Elizabeth

    Stadium, Asia World Expo Center, etc. He loves and works hard in Jazz. He was also invited by Hong Kong International Jazz Festival to perform on behalf of a local Jazz Band called “Quarter Meter” in 2012. Sam Po is the first Hong Kong Guitarist to participate in the JTC Guitarsolo Contest 2015. 

    Besides teaching and performance work, he is a composer, works in album recording and music accompaniment .

  • Victor CHU | Guitar

    Victor graduated from Musicians Institute with a Bachelor degree in guitar performance and had been given the post of teaching assistant after graduation.During his study, he achieved the Student Excellence Award and Stanley Clarks Scholarship. He is now working in Hong Kong as a session guitar player.He has been doing some guitar recording for pop tunes and working as a session guitar player in some concerts. Apart from playing as a session player, he loves funk/fusion music and he is working on his original music, planning to record his own album by the end of 2020.

  • Ivan TONG | Trombone

    Ivan started playing trombone since twelve. He is currently study at Baptist University. Ivan’s teachers include Kenneth Tam and Jarod Vermette. Ivan has participant in music performance, he is the principle trombone of Baptist University Symphony Orchestra, participant in various band like Baptist University wind symphony, hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia, and various Big Band. Ivan joined Coulisseman since 2017 and he enjoys playing with any trombonist in Hong Kong.

  • Sally LAW | Violin

    Sally Law is currently pursuing her orchestral career with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. She has also been accepted to participate in the Lucerne Festival Academy 2019. She plays alongside members of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe; and a solo concert for HRH Princess Alexandra.

    In 2017, Sally graduated from the Royal College of Music as a Tait Trust Scholar supported by a Study Award, where she studied violin with Professor Jan Repko and piano with Professor Kathron Sturrock. During her studies, she was also supported by the Neville Wathen Scholarship, Australian Music Foundation Young Musician Award (2013), and Australia AMEB Joyce Phillips Award (2014).

  • Sean LAI | Violin

    Lai holds degrees from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden. Under the tutelage of Miss Ho Hung Ying from Hong Kong and Miss Natalia Prishepenko from Germany.

    Lai has been an active chamber musician, as the first violinist in the Zephyrus String Quartet
 formed in Hong Kong, Lai and his team were invited to perform in the open stage of the Hong Kong Chamber Festival, “Academy New Generation Artists Concert”, and “Academy Dance: Opus 16: Point of Departure”, all ended with good comments.
